Beware of Medicare Part D Scammers
The new enrollment period for Medicare’s prescription drug plan has
opened the door for scam artists.
In the latest swindle, the con calls a senior and claims to be with Medicare
and informs the senior, he/she must provide bank account information in order
for a debit to be made from the senior’s account to ensure the senior
receives their new prescription drug card.
A spokesperson for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reminds
all seniors a legitimate representative from an approved Part D plan provider
will never call and ask for personal information. Additionally, authorized plan
providers will not charge fees to enroll participants or to change plans.
